Greeting from Alfons Hörmann
|Dear athletes and friends
On behalf of all of our members a very warm welcome to the Second Edition of the World Deaf Minigolf Championships.
Everybody is welcome to Bamberg to see the remarkable performance of deaf minigolfers to witness their progress and to understand their goal of equal participation. I wish all athletes and teams that they achieve their personal goals while also experiencing and truly feeling the fascination of sports.
Many deaf people love the sport and we need to get them to realize their potential. Moreover Minigolf is a wonderful means to help hearing and not hearing people to communicate or play sport together.
SPORTDEUTSCHLAND therefore is very pleased to host this important event which aims at greater awareness of Deaf Minigolf and the challenges faced by deaf people in general. Communication is an important issue and while different forms of sign-language are used in different parts of the world, the mini-golfers are unified by their love of the game.
Welcoming athletes from all over the world requires.from an enormous effort for the organizers, the 1. Minigolfclub Bamberg in cooperation with the German Minigolfsport Association. We are convinced that the City of Bamberg and Mini Golf Germany will be excellent representatives of Germany and its culture. We are sure they really enjoyed working together alongside their national and international partners to prepare for the event.
The German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) recognizes and values the great effort, honour and good exemple that go along with organizing this year’s championships.
The foundation of this competition is the thought of fairness and we stand for doping-free, clean sports. I would like to wish all of the athletes, their families and friends, the coaches and entourage good and successful games. Moreover, I wish the guests and spectators a unique and unforgettable event.
